What do you like about instructing at the beach?
My office is the beach, and the meetings we take are in the water. I can’t imagine a better place to get work done.

Why are Montauk beaches so unique?
Montauk is so far out into the Atlantic that you can just feel the fresh, clean oxygen in it.

Favorite beach to surf at in the Hamptons?
Ditch Plains Beach, hands down.

Best time to be at the beach for your sport?
Sunrise, before everyone else wakes up.

Favorite wetsuits and boards?
Can’t go wrong with Rusty surfboards or Rip Curl wetsuits.

When you're out of the water, where do you like to workout?
I’m a sucker for the gym at Gurney’s. It’s got huge windows right on the ocean, making it the most pleasurable workout.

Local restaurant for a healthy meal?
The Crow’s Nest menu focuses on local, sustainable cuisine. Not only is it naturally the most picturesque and romantic spot in the Hamptons, but my wife happens to be the general manager, which makes it my extra-favorite.

Why are you so passionate about surfing?
Surfing made me the man I am today. Without it, I would be lost.
