Katie Lee takes the stage at East Hampton’s Guild Hall for a flavorful conversation.
“I am from a little town in West Virginia, and you wouldn’t think that would have anything to do with the Hamptons,” says chef Katie Lee (katielee.com), co-host of The Kitchen. “But I get the same feeling of being out there, of a small, tight-knit community, and it’s a perfect combination of farm fields and the beach.”
Next month, Lee will take the stage at Guild Hall for the Stirring the Pot series hosted by Florence Fabricant at the Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in East Hampton.
But when the cameras are off, Lee keeps things low-key, mostly spending nights at home in Water Mill grilling with her husband and dogs. “I always find that being on the East End gives me the most inspiration for my cooking because we have such great farm stands,” Lee says, listing grilled corn on the cob and eggplant as favorites to fire up. “I really like to cook on the grill in the summer because I can do lighter cooking. I tend to pick up a great piece of fish, just do a little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper, and throw it on the grill.” Stirring the Pot series, Aug. 18, 158 Main St., East Hampton, guildhall.org
