The Asbury Ocean Club hotel returns Asbury Park to its rightful glory.
All rooms feature daybeds or banquettes for cat naps in the sun.
Less than three hours from the Hamptons, Asbury Park, N.J., is welcoming its first five-star hotel this summer. Asbury Ocean Club partnered with real estate company iStar to bring a renewed opulence to the Jersey Shore.
When arriving at the hotel, guests experience a retreat from everyday life as they oversee the ocean from the pool deck, where sunken beds, deep sofas and floor pillows await. After enjoying the view outside, visit the Drawing Room, a glass house floating on a reflection pool serving as a living room, open kitchen, bar and music room. Sunlit by day and illuminated by night, the space strives to embody homey coziness rather than the luxury hotel world’s usual flamboyance.
Glass showers attempt to replicate the feeling of showering outdoors, and Grown Alchemist provided the body sprays and scrubs.
“There’s a kind of magic to being at the beach—in any season or weather—and that’s what’s captured in every detail of the Asbury Ocean Club hotel,” says Anda Andrei, design lead for the hotel. “The hotel conveys a feeling you usually have to travel very far to experience—the peace and relaxation of a one-of-a-kind oasis. With that in mind, our design is focused on connecting every guest with gentle dunes and tranquil reflecting pools.”
Designer Anda Andrei opted for neutral, beachy touches throughout.
The rooms come with wood-paneled floors and 11-foot wood ceilings to amplify the laid-back oceanfront living experience and immerse residents in their own private beach lofts. Each guest will also be paired with a Beach Bellperson to take care of needs from delivered lunch to clean towels, chairs and umbrellas.
The gym, designed by New York’s bespoke fitness brand The Wright Fit, incorporates technology through its class-streaming tablets. The “whatever else you want, we will find” principle continues through the hotel’s various wellness programs, from yoga and meditation to tai chi and Pilates, soothing patrons both mentally and physically.
