Life in Montauk inspires Annie Trezza’s soulful sound.
Summer mornings for Annie Trezza start with her brewing a pot of coffee before skating down to the beach to check the waves. Since she was 15, Trezza has called Montauk home. Inspired by the sounds of the ’60s and the East End, Trezza’s tunes are familiar ones in the area. Her life out East has driven her to write the poetic lyrics for which she is known. “It’s always been easiest for me to write about the different people I meet and beautiful experiences I have,” she says. “So the fact that I have met some of the most interesting and amazing people in my hometown has inspired many lyrics.”
Whether it’s at The Stephen Talkhouse, The Surf Lodge or George’s Lighthouse Cafe, she can frequently be found jamming on local stages, and her new EP, Blue Suitcase #2, drops this month. When she’s not under the spotlight, Trezza escapes to one of her many hideaways, where she can be alone with her notebook, guitar and ocean views. “The ocean is my greatest inspiration,” she says. annietrezza.com, soundcloud.com/annietrezza
